Privacy Policy
Who We Are
Subscrr is an app for iPhone, iPad and Mac for tracking subscriptions and personal finances. It is developed and operated by an independent developer based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at hi@subscrr.app.
Subscrr has no user accounts and shows no ads inside the app. Your subscription and financial data stays on your device and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your private iCloud database.
What We Collect
Inside the app, we process the content you choose to create, including subscription details such as names, prices, renewal periods, dates, categories, icons and colors, together with personal calculation entries. This content remains on your device and, when enabled, in your private iCloud database.
We also process limited product and diagnostic data, such as feature usage, device model, operating-system version, app version and a random analytics identifier. Product analytics do not include your subscription names, prices, notes or financial content.
For advertising measurement, limited events such as an install or app open may be shared with Meta. Apple’s SKAdNetwork may provide aggregated attribution. The device advertising identifier is used for cross-app measurement only if you grant permission through Apple’s tracking prompt.
We do not sell your data and do not share your data with data brokers. We do not collect your contacts or precise location.
AI Processing (AI Spend)
AI Spend is an optional Premium feature. When you choose to scan a receipt or bank screenshot, the image is transmitted over HTTPS through our Cloudflare-hosted proxy to Google Gemini solely to extract the total, line items, merchant and date.
Subscrr does not store the submitted image on its own servers. Google processes the image under the applicable Gemini API terms to provide the requested analysis. Any processing or temporary logging performed by Google after transmission is governed by Google’s applicable terms.
The app keeps a small thumbnail and extracted values in on-device history until you delete them or they are automatically removed after 30 days. Do not submit documents you would not want processed by an AI service.
Third-Party Services
Apple iCloud / CloudKit: optional private sync through your Apple account. We cannot access your private iCloud data.
Google Gemini: receipt and bank-screenshot recognition for AI Spend. Images are sent only when you submit them for scanning.
Cloudflare: hosts our AI proxy and our newsletter/attribution storage. The AI proxy forwards submitted images to Gemini. Attribution records are described below.
Brandfetch and Simple Icons: brand search and logos. These services receive only the text you type into brand search or the public domain name of a service.
PostHog: product and website analytics. It receives limited usage events and device information tied to a random identifier, not your subscription content.
Meta Platforms: advertising measurement for our campaigns. It receives limited app events as described above.
Apple App Store: handles Premium payments, billing and refunds. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
No third party receives your complete subscription list, subscription prices, notes or personal financial history from us.
Website Analytics
Subscrr.app and journal.subscrr.app use PostHog only after you accept website analytics. Website analytics may record page views, referring page, coarse location derived from IP address, browser/device type and clicks such as App Store links.
A random visit identifier may be stored in browser local storage so separate page views can be counted as one visit. We do not record your screen.
You can change your choice at any time through Cookie Settings in the footer. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, website analytics and install attribution do not run.
Linking a Website Visit to an Install
If you have accepted website analytics and tap an App Store link, we may measure whether that visit resulted in an install. The browser sends the random visit identifier, campaign label (if available) and clicked button to our Cloudflare-hosted server.
The record is stored under a one-way hash of the IP address for up to 24 hours. When the app is first opened, it may claim the record once and associate the website visit with the app’s random analytics identifier.
This link contains no name, email address, subscription content or payment information. If you decline website analytics, use Do Not Track, or no matching record exists, no link is created.
Legal Bases & International Transfers
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Consent for website analytics and install attribution, advertising measurement requiring Apple’s tracking permission, and the newsletter.
- Performance of a contract for delivering the app and Premium, including AI Spend when you submit an image and iCloud sync when you enable it.
- Legitimate interests for limited in-app product analytics and diagnostics, aggregated attribution and service security.
Some providers may process data in the United States, including PostHog, Meta, Google and Cloudflare. Where required, we rely on applicable transfer mechanisms such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and UK Extension where a provider is certified, or Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to the Subscrr Journal, we store your email address, subscription date, signup page and the wording of your consent in our own Cloudflare storage.
We use the address only to send the newsletter. We do not sell it or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link. You may also email hi@subscrr.app. After unsubscribe, we keep the address for up to 12 months only as a suppression record so it cannot be accidentally re-added, then delete it.
Purchases
Subscrr Premium is purchased through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes payments, billing and refunds. We do not see or store your payment-card details.
Data Storage & Deletion
Subscription and financial data is stored locally on your device and, when enabled, in your private iCloud database. You can delete individual entries or use Delete All Data in Settings → iCloud & Data.
AI Spend thumbnails and extracted values are stored locally for up to 30 days. Submitted images are not stored on Subscrr servers.
Deleting the app removes local app data. iCloud data can also be managed through your Apple account settings.
How Long We Keep Data
- Subscriptions and calculations: until you delete them or delete the app; iCloud copies remain subject to your iCloud settings.
- AI Spend thumbnails and extracted values: up to 30 days.
- PostHog product and website analytics: 12 months.
- Website install-attribution records: up to 24 hours or until claimed.
- Newsletter address: while subscribed, then up to 12 months as a suppression record.
- Meta and SKAdNetwork data: retained by those providers under their applicable policies; Subscrr does not keep a separate copy.
Security
We use HTTPS for data transmitted between the app or website and our servers. We limit server-side data to what is needed for the functions described in this policy. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data. Because most Subscrr data is stored locally or in your private iCloud, you can manage much of it directly in the app.
For requests concerning server-side data or privacy questions, contact hi@subscrr.app. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children's Privacy
Subscrr is not intended for children under 13, or the applicable digital-consent age where higher. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Where required, we will obtain fresh consent for processing that requires consent.
